Monster Power & Infernal Machine

Blizzard has introduced Diablo 3 players to two new features that will be coming in patch 1.0.5. First off, 1.0.5 will introduce "Monster Power".

Monster Power
Just as it was in Diablo 2, all players will be able to scale the difficulty of monsters to their liking. The higher the "Power Level" of a monster the more experience, gold find and magic find the player will receive (Note: Magic Find & Gold Find can now be scaled above the 300% mark). In addition to this all level heroes (1 - 60) may use the scaling effect of Monster Power in any of the four difficulties (Normal - Inferno).

In my opinion, most players I have seen already have level 60 characters and this Monster Power addition will allow better geared players to level up their Paragon Levels more quickly. Not to mention the increase to Gold Find and Magic Find. I might have to go back to D3 once Patch 1.0.5 is released. I was originally waiting until the PvP patch to come back to D3, but no one knows when that will be released.

Infernal Machine
The second major feature that will be introduced in 1.0.5 will be "The Infernal Machine". Players will have to gather some items and combine them to unlock secret portals. These portals will allow access to uber versions of the bosses in D3. Defeating these uber bosses will give players extra items, gold and a chance to find components for a new legendary ring. This seems to be a lot like the Uber Tristram bosses from Diablo 2. Collect items from bosses, create portals, kill ubers and get the annihilus charm.

In my opinion, the added difficulty of Monster Power should bring back a decent amount of players. As long as players feel they are finding decent items for the amount of time they are playing they will continue to play. When it comes to the Infernal Machine, that Legendary Ring will have to be amazing if players are going to hunt for items just to fight the Ubers, that will have a CHANCE to drop COMPONENTS to create that ring. Only time will tell how the playerbase will react to patch 1.0.5.

As of now Patch 1.0.5 is now available on the Public Test Realm. More information here: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/7155881/Patch_105_Now_Available_on_PTR-9_21_2012
