We have just gotten an update that commodities are now able to be traded on the Real Money Auction House.
The following commodities are now available for trading in the real-money auction house
- Gems
- Dyes
- Crafting materials
- Blacksmithing Plans and Jeweler Designs
- Pages of Training
Aside from high quality Gems most commodities are relatively cheap in the Gold Auction House (Under 10k Gold) so it will interesting to see if there is really any effect on the Gold prices after this update.
Up until this point there is no information on when Gold will be able to be traded on the RMAH, but Bashiok (D3 Forum Community Manager) said it will be "soon". The ability to trade gold as a commodity is not yet available, but we hope to enable it in the near future. Keep an eye on this thread for further updates. -Bashiok
Currently unofficial D3 websites are selling Gold at $0.10 per 100k Gold a rate which has been decreasing since Diablo 3 released in May. We will continue to see the price of Gold fall until every exploit and glitch in D3 has been hotfixed.
Without cheating, buying low and selling high on the Auction House is the best way to make Gold in Diablo 3. In my opinion the second best way to make Gold is by farming Gold at about 300k to 350k per hour in Nightmare. You can make more Gold per hour in Hell and Inferno if you have better gear.
